Tell County Executive Laura Curran Not to Veto Residents’ Opportunity to Vote On an Elected County Assessor!

Dear County Executive Curran,

In light of the error-ridden implementation of the County-wide reassessment by the Department of Assessment, we the undersigned residents of Nassau County support the need for a referendum to allow residents to decide if they would like to continue with an appointed Assessor who is only accessible and accountable to County Executive Curran OR an elected Assessor, who is accessible and accountable to "we, the people". We believe that the Residents deserve the right to choose whether or not they want an elected Assessor who will insist upon transparency and fight to ensure that his or her department is fully staffed so that concerned residents can get the answers they need in a timely fashion.

Let the people decide! Don't veto democracy!

By signing below, we demand that you support the law providing for a referendum which gives the people the right to choose whether the county will have an elected Nassau County Assessor who is directly accountable to us.
