Tell the County Executive that Nassau cannot tax, borrow and spend its way to fiscal health.

Last month, I joined my colleagues in the Legislature's Majority in passing changes to the County's 2021 Budget which balanced the budget and cut the County Executive's senseless borrowing and proposed tax hikes.

These amendments would have cut taxes; saved residents more than 200 million dollars over the next 15 years; returned money owed to taxpayers; supported law enforcement and first responders and restored funding to vital quality of life initiatives like the County's rodent extermination program, while putting Nassau on the path to fiscal success in 2021 and beyond. Unfortunately, the County Executive chose to veto every one of these measures, including millions of dollars in tax cuts.

Instead, as tens of thousands of Nassau homeowners are opening their school tax bills to discover massive tax increases as a result of her disastrous Reassessment, the County Executive has raised property taxes by millions in the midst of a pandemic and is attempting to boost the County's bottom line by using unsupported and unrealistic sales tax revenue projections as an excuse to borrow nearly half a BILLION dollars which our kids and grandkids will be forced to repay.
