Please sign this petition to show your support for the Nassau County Legislative Majority's call to stop Albany's proposed law (S4264A/ A6967) which will increase taxes on gasoline and products to heat our homes. The petition will be sent to the Speaker of the Assembly and the Senate Majority Leader:

I support the Nassau County Legislative Majority's call to stop Albany's proposed law (S4264A/ A6967) which will increase taxes on gasoline and products to heat our homes. I am adamantly opposed to the proposed law, which will raise gas taxes 55 cents and add roughly $8.25 to the average tank of gas. If passed, this law will raise New York’s gas taxes 57% HIGHER than every other state in the nation. It will also raise taxes on fuel oil, natural gas and electricity, which are estimated to increase our heating costs by 26%.

Nassau residents already pay the highest real property taxes in the nation as well as some of the highest income taxes. I cannot afford another tax. These taxes will hit the middle class particularly hard making it more difficult for struggling working families and will create an unconscionable burden on the poor and seniors on a fixed income, many of whom will have to choose from putting food on the table or heating their homes. The taxes will also hurt our downtown businesses as they are attempting to recover from the pandemic and will cost jobs.

Our New York State legislators must SAY NO to the Gas Tax!
