Title VI, Civil Rights Act of 1964

The County of Nassau gives public notice of its Title VI Policy to ensure full compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended, The Civil Rights Restoration Act of 1987, Executive Order 12898, Executive Order 13166 and related statutes and regulations in all County of Nassau Government programs and activities.

Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and related statutes and regulations, as amended, require that no person in the United States of America shall, on the grounds of race, color, sex, national origin, age, or disability, be excluded from the participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be otherwise subjected to discrimination under any program or activity, for which the County of Nassau receives Federal financial assistance.

If you believe you have been discriminated against on the basis of race, color, gender, national origin, age, disability, income, limited ability to speak English or any other unlawful basis, you may file a complaint with Nassau County. Your complaint must be filed within one hundred and eighty (180) days from the date of the alleged act of discrimination. Any such complaint should be made in writing. Language Access Policy

Pursuant to Executive Order No. 26, the New York Statewide Language Access Policy, the County of Nassau is committed to providinglanguage assistance services, translation and interpretation, to persons of Limited English Proficiency (LEP). The County Executive’s Comprehensive Language Access Policy will ensure that Nassau residents and individuals have meaningful, timely, and equal access to all essential County programs and services, including, but not limited to, public health, police protection, emergency assistance, social services and assistance for the disabled, amongst other programs, activities and services. Title II of the ADA Public Notice

The County of Nassau gives public notice of its Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Policy. Title II of the ADA provides that no qualified individual with a disability shall, by reason of such disability, be excluded from participation in or be denied the benefits of the services, programs, or activities of a public entity, or be subjected to discrimination by any such entity. Title Il defines a public entity to include any state or local government, or any department or agency of a state or local government. The County of Nassau is committed to making its services, programs, activities and events accessible to individuals with disabilities.
